Commission me…

How it works

As well as producing artwork from my own ideas and inspiration I am also available to be commissioned to produce individual pieces of work.

If you would like to commission me or find out more about a potential commission, please complete the enquiry form below.

By their nature, commissions vary a great deal in terms of subject matter and approach, but my usual process is an initial discussion about what you want and your budget.  Once this is agreed, a 50% non-refundable deposit is paid.  A site visit would usually follow to make preliminary sketches and take photos but I can also work directly from photos if they are of a suitable quality.   I then share initial proposals and when we are both happy and clear about what the final outcome will look like, I’ll complete the commission within an agreed timeframe, before requesting payment of the remaining balance.

Mill Farm, Wiltshire:

Mill Farm is a Georgian farmhouse that is famed as the birthplace and home of Wiltshire’s notorious 18th Century highwayman, Thomas Boulter.

Initial sketches were made of the house in both pen and gouache. There were a lot of interesting things about this subject, especially the curved brick wall that gave an interesting sense of space to the scene.

Garden Commission:

This was commission to paint a view of a client’s garden in West Sussex.

After initial photographs and sketches a composition was agreed, and the final piece was completed in gouache. It was a pleasure to complete working alongside the client who had both an open mind to my suggestions along with her own ideas to contribute.
